HAT do they wait for these silent and haughty women, similar to graceful and beneficial spectres, which haunt henceforth most of Juan Carrillo's works?. What message, which sign, which appeal?. Never they assemble, never they chat. No rustle, even no gesture, almost hermits' attitudes, as they promenade along a bank or as they contemplate the dazzle of the lamp in their room. The expectation which is also the title of one of the most disturbing compositions of CARRILLO, thus worries all its work. By no means morbid expectation which is not more illusion than apprehension. Rather, a musing; the reflection of the artist as for the finery which he could, following the example of another god, tune to the world; the ecstasy of the adventurer as for the exploit which he could offer to his fate. And when we know that Juan comes to us from Extremadura where when we are not a conquistador, we are a poet, hermit or painter. And he is at the same moment these four essential persons of the History of Spain. it paints as we fight and as we meditate, with the certainty of the talent. useless hombre in this work. Always, everything glitters; delicate and passionate camaïeux of ochre and orangy which transform and the sky and the ground and up to the walls of the cell of the "dreamers". CARRILLO chose to paint the enjoyment in what she has of more charismatic; the enjoyment of the mystic which so much consider very frivolous and who colors every vision of luxurious nuances. It chose to paint the soul. These women compose the party of it most quiète and the softest. How do not to remember to itself these Buddha's words: "! - let us be effective only by being inactive! ". By such a choice, CARRILLO is taken away well from all which saddens the said painting " of our weather ": cynicism, fear, despair, contempt of the beauty, the caricature of the being, absurd exuberance, inconvenient claim. But is it really of this period?. This country which it paints, so dry that we would take it for a sorry planet?. And these characters who hide the faces to every "Peeping Tom" as to maintain a secret?. All this is not of our period. CARRILLO is too much a painter of the chastity, the rustle, the suggestion. Far from him the tumult, the complaint and the plea. A real hermit. It abolished the time; it banished the Evil. That the gods stay up JUAN and that they spare her the embezzlements of our contemporaries and that they guard its work through the most precarious times. Her,Its work represents maybe the future, a more serene, more internal, sweeter world, cleared of the contingencies of the vanity, the lie and the urge, this world more dedicated to the spirit which announced MALRAUX.
